Carnelian Totem Pendant

This one-of-a-kind pendant features an oval carnelian cabochon set in blackened sterling silver, its deep brick-red glow enhanced by the rich oxidized finish. Texture is added through a multi-step metalsmithing process: sterling wire is flattened, stamped, and then soldered to the backplate, while additional hand stamping brings dimension and character to the overall design.

The bold, geometric pendant shape is formed using a die and hydraulic press, creating clean lines and a distinctive silhouette. Measuring approximately 1⅜" x ⅝", it hangs from a 19" oxidized sterling-silver chain accented with faceted carnelian beads that echo the warm tones of the centerpiece stone.
